Klara Mueggenburg
- Winter 2025 Northwestern’s Valuable Personnel (NVP)

What is your title?
Business Process Analyst, Human Resources
Month and Year You Started Working at Northwestern
June 2007
Tell us a bit about your Northwestern journey.
I started as a temp in the Materials Research Center and then continued as a Project Coordinator there. Later, I worked part time on a sponsored project called the College Sports Project. Then I worked in Alumni Relations and Development for six years building reports and doing analytics projects. After that, I moved to IT where I was an analyst supporting the data warehouse. In 2018, I transferred to Human Resources into my current role where I do data analysis and support some HR business processes. I like working at Northwestern and hope to stay here for many more years.
What do you find the most rewarding and fulfilling about your work?
I love all things data. I enjoy writing queries to get data from myHR. I find it interesting to combine data from multiple databases. I have fun making formatted reports and graphs (but don’t get me started on pie charts). I also enjoy solving puzzles: I have some HR colleagues who call me up to try to track down a mystery in myHR and that’s always a highlight of my day.
Your favorite spot to visit on campus.
I like Hardin Hall in Crown. I know they changed it now, but they used to have portraits of the presidents, and I found those fascinating.
What’s something you couldn’t function without?
Diet Coke. And yellow sticky notes. And, of course, all the amazing colleagues in my unit and all around the university who make it fun to come to work every day.
What’s on your bucket list?
A cruise on the Mediterranean. I’d love to see some of the ancient buildings in Greece and Italy.
Interesting fact about you: I have a master’s degree in higher education administration and policy from SESP. Great use of my employee benefits!
