Staff share ideas and concerns about benefits, professional development, or culture with the advisory Council. The Council organizes and shares staff feedback on proposed initiatives with university senior administrators.
The Northwestern University Staff Advisory Council (NUSAC) serves as an advisory voice and change-agent for Northwestern staff in matters relating to community engagement, professional opportunities, and workplace concerns. This is accomplished through active engagement with staff, the University President, the Office of Human Resources, and various senior administrators.
The Council is a group of 25 volunteer staff representatives from across Northwestern’s three main campuses. Members are selected through an application process led by current NUSAC membership and appointed by the President of the University.
NUSAC serves as the formal advisory link between Northwestern staff and the University’s top decision-makers.

Staff share ideas and concerns about benefits, professional development, or culture with the advisory Council. The Council organizes and shares staff feedback on proposed initiatives with university senior administrators.

Staff take part in mixers, professional workshops, conversations with senior leaders, and community-building activities that help foster engagement and dialogue around key issues.

Every spring, the Council holds an open application and selection process to appoint new members from across the university to serve three-year terms.

Elected members join specific groups to research and draft solutions to advance Council initiatives.

The Council meets with the President, HR, and various senior leaders to share committee findings and discuss opportunities for change.

NUSAC keeps staff informed about advocacy efforts, outcomes, and issues affecting staff through regular communications such as newsletters and Listserv messages
