Why did you join NUSAC?
I joined NUSAC because it was important to me to continue my advocacy work for staff at Northwestern in a way that extends beyond my own department. Throughout my time in higher education, I have seen how essential staff are to the student experience, success of academic programs, and the overall health of our institution. Staff members are an integral part of higher education administration; their perspectives, needs, and well-being deserve to be centered in conversations that shape policy and culture.
What is the most important thing your Northwestern staff colleagues should know about NUSAC?
Northwestern University staff should know that NUSAC is here to represent you and your needs within the Northwestern community. At its core, NUSAC is a space where staff voices are sought out and elevated. We serve as a bridge between staff and university leadership, making sure that concerns, ideas, and feedback are communicated clearly and thoughtfully.
What issue are you most passionate about related to improving the Northwestern University experience for staff?
I am most passionate about improving faculty–staff dynamics so the concerns and needs of both parties are heard and taken into account. Strengthening communication and mutual understanding creates a more collaborative, respectful environment for everyone at the university.
What do you most enjoy about your work at Northwestern?
What I enjoy most about my work at Northwestern is the flexibility my role offers and the freedom to be creative with recruitment. I appreciate having the space to try new ideas and design engaging outreach strategies. That combination of flexibility and creativity is what keeps the work meaningful and energizing for me.
What is a little-known fun fact about you?
A little-known fun fact about me is that I grew up as a military brat (my father is a Marine Corps vet) and my mom worked as a correctional officer— so our house ran like a mini, very organized boot camp. These experiences helped shape my personality today.
