1940s
Wilma Dykeman (S40) of Asheville,
N.C., has written nine books and is a staunch advocate for the environment
in North Carolina and Tennessee. She received the 2001 North Caroliniana
Society Award, the state's highest literary honor, for her contributions
to North Carolina's historical and cultural heritage.
David Hoffman (D40) of Germantown,
Wis., who is retired, was one of 10 dentists to receive an award from
the University of Alabama in 2000 for his contributions to dentistry.
Warren R. Ross (GJ47) of Rye, N.Y.,
a freelance editor and writer, wrote The Premise and the Promise: The
Story of the Unitarian Universalist Association (Skinner House Books,
2001). He retired 10 years ago as vice chair and co-founder of Kallir,
Philips, Ross, the nation's leading health care communications company
at that time.
Bob Banner (GS48, H81) of Dallas
is executive producer of "Real Kids, Real Adventures," a dramatic
television series that was nominated for a 2001 Daytime Emmy and received
an Award of Excellence from the Film Advisory Board. He also originated
Beginning Screenwriting, an online distance learning program for television,
in September.
Mary Lee Brinegar (WCAS48) of Lake
Forest, Ill., is living in a retirement community and recently married
for the first time.
Robert W. Moore (EB48) of Joliet,
Ill., retired three years ago after heading the Moore Insurance Agency
in Joliet.
Dawn Clark Netsch (WCAS48, L52) of
Chicago, professor emeritus at Northwestern's School of Law, received
the Glass Ceiling Buster Award from the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers.
She served as Illinois comptroller and state senator and was a gubernatorial
candidate in 1994.
Lyle R. Shattuck (S49) of Cambria,
Calif., retired in 1986 after 38 years as music director of the U.S. Armed
Forces Radio and Television Service and as a radio producer, writer and
news announcer in Europe and Hollywood, Calif. In recent years he and
his wife traveled to Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Russia and China,
with repeat visits to all the European countries.
