Residential Services offers three residence halls for graduate students: Engelhart Hall, Garrett Place Apartments, and McManus Center. Engelhart Hall and the Garrett Place Apartments are available to all graduate students; McManus Center units are available to Kellogg graduate students only. In order to apply for housing you must be accepted into your specific program.

Based on space availability, Residential Services is able to provide housing to post-doctoral professionals, visiting scholars and fellows. Documentation of the appointment from your sponsoring Northwestern department along with employee ID and Net ID are required.

The living experience for graduate students in these halls includes multiple apartment floor plans, full mail service, and parking. Fall contracts begin September 1 each year and are for the academic year. Residents may choose to renew for the summer. All graduate apartment facilities are open year-round. 2019-2020 Housing Selection information:

  • February 25-March 1:Current Residents of Engelhart Hall, Garrett Place Apartments and McManus Center will go through the reassignment process and re-contract for 2019-20. Students will also be able to extend for two weeks or for the full summer (until 8/25/19).
  • April 1 at 9am: Graduate students that are not current residents will be able to submit a graduate housing application. This application is a first come first serve process.
