Athletico Rehab Aide Opportunity

Winnetka Athletico location is in need of several rehab aides due to most of our current aides heading back to college. 

The rehab aide position provides a very valuable experience for any pre-healthcare student. There is a significant amount of patient interaction which is what most of the aides love about their position. We currently have several Northwestern students working as aides and it is fun to cheer on the wildcats in support of our team! It is a paid, part time position.

Cardiology Shadowing Opportunity

We’re thrilled to announce a unique opportunity for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a medical career! The Rush Education and Career Hub, in partnership with the Department of Cardiology, is offering a special chance for students to gain firsthand experience in the field of Cardiology.

 This shadowing experience is designed for students who are considering medical school and a future as a physician. It provides them with early exposure to the world of Cardiology, helping them determine if this is the right path for their medical career.

 Each student will have the opportunity to shadow one of our outstanding volunteer physicians for a half-day (4-hour) session. The shadowing experience may take place either in an inpatient or outpatient setting and will be hosted at one of our two locations: Rush Oak Park Hospital or the Rush University Medical Center. Students can sign up for multiple shadowing sessions, but each session will be with a different physician.

 As part of the experience, students will be provided with a scrubs uniform and a visitor badge to ensure they feel prepared and welcomed.

Clinical Research Internship in Orthopedics

Clinical Research Position in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine 

Position: Full-Time Clinical Research Intern to Dr. Benjamin Domb, MD 

Location: American Hip Institute; 999 E. Touhy Ave, Suite 450, Des Plaines, IL. Please note that for this position you will need to be on-site at our facility.

Description: American Hip Institute is a successful sports medicine practice that is supported by a highly active Research Foundation managed by Dr. Benjamin Domb.  As a clinical research intern, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for a variety of clinical, surgical and research roles, including maintaining an extensive surgical database, scribing or acting as a medical assistant in clinic, assisting with writing research studies, and supporting research processes such as journal publication, conference submissions, and prospective study management. The skills gained in clinical, surgical, and research settings offered at this institute provide participants with an excellent foundation for their career in medicine.

Duration and Compensation: This position is offered for both 13-month and 25-month durations and includes a $10,000 stipend. Full-time Clinical Research Coordinator

Dr. Teena Shetty, Founder & Director of the Concussion Program at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, is looking for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator to work in the Neurology Department at HSS.
You would be involved in a number of concussion-related research projects and coordinating patient care in the concussion clinic. Northwestern University Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Training Program (NU-MHRT)

The Northwestern University Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Training Program (NU-MHRT), directed by Melissa A. Simon, MD, MPH, Director of the Center for Health Equity Transformation, provides health disparities research training experiences to minority and other underrepresented students and trainees at the undergraduate through postdoctoral levels in order to prepare and enhance the next generation of scientists committed to research for improving minority health and reducing health disparities.

Trainees can focus their research and skill development in any aspect of interest that advances health equity, including but not limited to basic, translational, clinical, and population science. Premed Gap Year Opportunity

Stetson Lee Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is looking to hire recent college graduates and aspiring doctors for their year-long, paid internship program. This internship is designed to provide practical experience to college graduates bound for medical school.

Interns work directly with the physicians and will learn how to take medical histories, document patient present illnesses, review X-ray and MRI results from in-office machines, and to synthesize information into possible diagnoses. Interns will also complete administrative tasks.

Interns will also have the opportunity to attend both arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip, and ankle, as well as engage in ongoing research projects with the goal of publishing their projects in peer-reviewed journals.

Position Requirements:

· Must have recently graduated from a university (Class of 2024 included)

Research Assistant at Bando Lab

The Bandopadhayay Lab at DFCI (with co-affiliations with Boston Children’s Hospital and the Broad Institute) is seeking a motivated research assistant to join our efforts to find better treatments for children with brain tumors. We apply cutting-edge genomic technologies to identify drivers of childhood cancers and to determine mechanisms of resistance to current and novel treatments. Our lab is highly translational and spans efforts from acquiring patient samples to generating and analyzing high-throughput datasets from those samples through to functional genomics and mechanistic biology. To that end, the individual will engage in experiments that utilize molecular biology techniques such as cell culture methods, recombinant DNA and gene transfer technology, and other cell biology assays including the use of genetic perturbation approaches such as CRISPR and base-editing technology. Research Technician / Post-Baccalaureate Opportunity for aspiring MD and/or PhD

We are interested in a motivated recent or pending college graduate to work in our laboratory in a Post-Baccalaureate / Research Technologist position in Dr. Matthew Feinstein’s lab. This is a basic and translational lab focused on inflammation in cardiovascular disease, with a recent exciting started project we are leading . Priority will be given to candidates with some experience in basic science laboratory settings, although limited experience is understandable and somewhat expected. Priority will also be given to candidates aiming to spend ~2 years in the position before starting at an MD or PhD program. We have a robust training environment including experienced staff and senior trainees. The PI also has a track record of mentoring post-baccalaureate trainees to success, with the last 2 post-baccalaureate trainees taking on a similar role being accepted to their top choice MD and PhD programs.

Scribe America Part-time & Full-time Positions

The central role of the Medical Scribe is to relieve the physician of clerical or secretarial duties; thus, allowing the physician to focus more directly on clinical care. The scribe observes the physician during patient encounters and performs documentation on the physician’s behalf. Under the direction of the physician, they enter information into the patient’s electronic or written chart. At the physician’s request, the scribe must be able to locate past medical records, prior lab/radiology results, or past visit histories for the physician to review. Additionally, within the EMR itself the scribe needs the ability to enter data into the chart on the physician’s behalf. All scribe-entered data is reviewed and authenticated by the physician. 

Qualifications:
-Must have a high school diploma or GED. Experience in the medical field is preferred
-Computer and typing skills are required

Somos Hermanos Gap Year Programs

Somos Hermanos programs are designed to equip participants with the language skills and cultural competency they need to provide high quality professional services to Latinos. The Grassi Retina Gap Year Internship

The Grassi Retina Gap Year Internship (GRGYI) is a one- to two-year, paid internship designed to provide invaluable clinical experience for individuals preparing for careers in medicine or healthcare. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Grassi and our experienced clinical team at Grassi Retina.
