Phi Delta Theta, Illinois Alpha Chapter House Corporation

POSITION:   House Director

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The House Director for the Illinois Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta is a graduate apprenticeship that responsible for assisting the chapter in: regulation if needed, housing projects, act as an intermediary between the chapter and the University, understanding University and Phi Delta Theta’s policy and procedures as they apply and communication between the chapter, house corporation and the University. The House Director reports directly to the House Corporation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Chapter Interaction & Programming

  1. Provide advisory support to the chapter(s) on issues including but not limited to scholarship, recruitment, leadership, service, event planning, and risk management.
  2. Work with chapter officers to promote a positive living/learning environment.
  3. Work with residents to develop and enhance community within the chapter house with the goal of making the facility a vibrant environment as well as a central point for chapter activities and programming.
  4. Work with chapter officers to enforce all University policies.
  5. Meet bi-weekly with the chapter president at a structured, established meeting time.
  6. Meet weekly with the undergraduate house manager at a structured, established meeting time.
  7. Attend at least one chapter meeting per quarter to ensure a visible and supportive staff presence.
  8. Respond to and document in a timely manner crises and misconduct that may occur in the chapter house and provide support/guidance/expertise in responding to, and handling crises. Report any incidents to House Corporation immediately.
  9. Be visible to students and parents at University programs and special chapter events, if invited.
  10. Attend chapter events as appropriate (e.g., intramurals and philanthropies).
  11. Have meeting with undergraduate executive board officers once per quarter.
  12. Attend any and all House Corporation meetings
  13. Attend at least one (1) Quadrangles meetings during the academic year (Note: 4-5 meetings are scheduled throughout the year)

 

Facilities Management

  1. Assist with the check-in and check-out procedures for residents, including related paperwork each quarter.
  2. Work with residents to maintain an attractive, clean, and safe house.
  3. Conduct a daily walk-through of the entire facility (common access and floors) to identify and report maintenance and safety issues. Report any issues immediately to the House Corporation.
  4. Ensure that work orders and daily maintenance are followed up on in a timely manner.
  5. Conduct a facility walk-through with custodial staff and Building Maintenance Officer as requested.
  6. Communicate with the Office of Residence Life for Facilities and Operations issues.
  7. Conduct house meetings at the beginning and end of each quarter and before Thanksgiving, Winter Break and Spring break to educate residents about proper protocols and procedures.
  8. Perform all opening and closing duties during all breaks (Thanksgiving, Fall, Winter, Spring, and closing).

 

COMPENSATION

The House Director will be provided with single room on the first floor of chapter house.   The single room will contain refrigerator, stove, bathroom with shower and bedroom furniture.  In addition, the House Director will be provided a quarterly stipend to be determined by the House Corporation.

 

 

Delta Chi Fraternity

The Delta Chi Housing Corporation is looking for a House Director for the 2019-2020 school year. The house director will serve as the liason between the Housing Corporation, Fraternity and University regarding building matters, maintenance and repairs. They will maintain the integrity of the house by contacting the University's facility management when there are any issues regarding to the Delta Chi House. 

 

The House Director is expected to live in the Delta Chi House as compensation for their work regarding the maintenance of the house. They will be provided a bedroom on the 1st floor with a private bathroom. Additionally, meals will be provided by either a meal plan at the house or a stipend for a similar amount. The term of this position will begin by 9/16/19 and will run until at least the end of the school year, with the availability to live in during the Summer. We are looking for a graduate student who is looking for housing at Northwestern University in exchange for collaborating with the Fraternity and the Housing Corporation in order to maintain the functionality of the Delta Chi House.
