Federal Student Loans
Learn about the different types of federal student loans and how to apply.
IMPORTANT: The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) was signed into law on July 4, 2025 through the budget reconciliation process. This legislation includes significant changes to the federal student loan programs, most of which become effective for periods of enrollment beginning on or after July 1, 2026.
Legacy provisions apply to current borrowers whose federal student loans disbursed prior to July 1, 2026 and extend for three additional years or until the student's current program of study ends (whichever comes first).
To help you make sense of what’s changing (and what isn’t), we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions.
