Qualifications, Stipend & Benefits

Applicants must have the following prior to the fellowship start date:

  • a completed doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in counseling or clinical psychology
  • a completed doctoral dissertation
  • a completed psychology internship from an APA-accredited internship program
Qualified candidates should have strong clinical skills in individual and group therapy, short-term treatment, assessment, case management, clinical consultation, and crisis intervention. Preferred candidates will have counseling center experience and experience working with graduate and professional students.

The salary is $47,476 plus health care benefits for the 2021 – 2022 academic year. As a Northwestern exempt staff member, you are entitled to the same health, life, and other insurance benefits as permanent staff at Northwestern. Fellows are provided with 10 vacation days to be used during the postdoctoral year, 7 professional development days, and up to 10 days of sick leave. Each fellow has their own office which is equipped with a computer, printer, Internet access, digital recording technology, and voice mail. As NU employees, fellows have NU e-mail accounts, business cards, access to library resources, and discounts at local merchants.
