Academic Advising and Course Registration
During Wildcat Welcome there will be plenty of resources available to help guide you through the start of your college career, including advising sessions with faculty, info-sessions about certain majors, and when to start considering Study Abroad programs. Because Wildcat Welcome is a time for new students to interact with current students, advisors, and professors, you will not register until mid-week, allowing ample time to learn about classes and plan a manageable course load.
For freshmen, all academic advising and course registration occurs after you arrive on campus for Wildcat Welcome.
Though your friends attending other institutions may be registering for courses over the summer, you will not need to worry about any of that until Wildcat Welcome in September. You will have full days to gain an understanding of academic expectations and what your first quarter will look like during Wildcat Welcome; you'll do much of this with your academic advisor. Undergraduate student Peer Advisers will also assist in the advising process during Wildcat Welcome.
Each school within Northwestern handles academic advising in its own way. Learn more about the advisors in your school.
