Kate Mattax served as a Peer Adviser in 2010 and 2011 before serving on the 2012 Board of Directors as the Director for the School of Education and Social Policy. Kate was a Social Policy and Spanish major and graduated in 2013. Kate was also involved in Northwestern's philanthropic event, Dance Marathon, as the Community Relations Co-Chair and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. During Kate's time on the Board, she was able to learn about herself as an individual leader and the dynamics of a high-functioning group. She is remembered for her silly statements and advice such as: "People can't meet expectations they don't know you have." For her, being a member of the Board was so valuable because she was able to work with a group of incredibly talented, driven, passionate, hardworking individuals who truly care about Northwestern. Additionally, it showed her how much you can love an institution, how you can make a positive impact on every single new student, and how to to grow exponentially as a leader of positive, sustainable change at Northwestern. #dubdubluv(2012) |
