We are generally looking for candidates with 2 to 5 years of administrative, financial or accounting experience who demonstrate the following:
All applicants must apply for a specific temporary job and complete the online application process, provide three professional references, proof of education and certified credentials if the Northwestern University vendor is unable to do so. Some applicants or employees will be required to have an in person interview and test on required software and other relevant skills as dictated by the temporary role. All applicants hired for a temporary position must successfully complete a criminal background check. All applicants must meet the qualifications to be considered eligible and part of the temporary pool for employment. As provided by the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, now known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, you are entitled to request and receive a copy of Northwestern University's Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This Report includes statistics for the previous 3 years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Northwestern University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from campus. The Report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies on drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. You can obtain a copy of this Report by contacting the Northwestern University Police Department Deputy Chief at (847) 491-3256. Our application process requires that you apply for specific temporary positions when you submit your application. This ensures that your credentials are reviewed against appropriate openings based upon your interests.
Most, but not all, of the temporary positions are administrative or financial in nature. We are always recruiting applicants with a minimum of two years administrative experience and strong PC skills.
After you have submitted your application you will receive an email confirming that your application has been received. An NU Temporary Staffing Center representative will contact you if your application meets the position qualifications. We are sorry, but due to the high volume of applicants we are unable to respond to every applicant for a temporary position.

A temporary (non-student) employee may not work more than 1000 hours in any twelve month period.
Yes. We encourage you to actively search for regular employment at Northwestern while you are employed as a temporary. Please keep the lines of communication open with your supervisor and request time off in advance when you have an opportunity to interview.

Am I eligible for any employee benefits?
Any employee may participate in the Voluntary Savings Plan . As a temporary employee, you may be eligible for medical insurance if you meet specific criteria in accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If it is determined that you are eligible for coverage, you will be contacted by the Northwestern University HR Benefits department.

All overtime must be approved by your supervisor before it is worked. Any temporary employee who works more than forty hours per week will be paid at the rate of time and one-half for hours worked in excess of forty.
Yes, you may purchase a monthly parking pass for the Evanston campus. The Chicago campus has limited parking, therefore parking passes are not available to temporary staff.
Unfortunately, the Intercampus Shuttle can only be used with a valid WildCARD. Your Part-time/Temporary Employee ID Card can be used to ride the Evanston Loop, Campus Loop, Ryan Field, and the Frostbite shuttles.
