As Assistant Director of Student Enrichment Services, Sharitza is responsible for developing, managing, and assessing the Compass Peer Mentor Program. In addition to Compass, she will work individually with students assisting them with accessing resources, navigating financial wellness, and building social capital. Due to her personal experiences as a first generation, low-income, student of color, Sharitza is passionate about students feeling confident, supported, and resilient throughout their academic journey.

Sharitza was born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago, but loves to call Chicago in its entirety home. Prior to joining Northwestern, Sharitza worked in a variety of settings including community colleges, high schools, elementary schools, group homes, and community mental health organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community Psychology from DePaul University, and a Masters of Social Work from the School of Social Service Administration at University of Chicago. Sharitza earned her LCSW in 2016, and is a Certified Rape Crisis Counselor. She currently is an Auxiliary Board Member at Chicago Youth Centers, Fellowship House and a clinical therapist at a private practice. Outside of her career, Sharitza loves hunting down the next travel deal, exploring Chicago neighborhoods with her family, and trying the city’s best brunch spots.
