Academic Support
Office of Academic Support and Learning Advancement (ASLA)
Below you will find a list of programs and resources offered by the Office of Academic Support and Learning Advancement (ASLA). We encourage you to connect with them during your time at Northwestern.
Peer-Guided Study Groups
Would you like to connect virtually with others in your classes, to study together, compare notes, hold each other accountable, or just have somebody to reach out to with questions? Check out Peer-Guided Study Groups.
Undergraduate Program for Advancing Learning (UPAL)
UPAL, offered through Academic Support and Learning Advancement (ASLA), is a peer-mentored, small-group program designed to help students manage their academic wellness. Participants meet for one hour weekly for 7 weeks of the quarter to address – through discussion and activities – topics such as balancing responsibilities, advocating for yourself in academic settings, effective study strategies, and much more.
Run Your Own Study Group
ASLA has created a guide for students who are interested in setting up their own study groups. They will also offer consultations with ASLA peer leaders, so that interested students can talk to a peer who has developed experience in leading a study group.
