We help members of the Northwestern community reflect on student learning.
What do we want students to learn? Are they learning it? How? How can we better support their learning? These questions are at the core of student learning assessment, which involves:
- Articulating learning objectives
- Selecting appropriate teaching strategies and activities
- Collecting evidence related to these objectives
- Using the information to enhance learning and teaching
This site's purpose is to provide Northwestern faculty and staff with useful resources for their own assessments of student learning and to inform the community about assessment efforts at Northwestern.
Assess the impact of remote learning on students’ preparedness and progress.
The COVID-19 pandemic and social upheaval have influenced students’ learning contexts and contributed toward uncertainties related to the knowledge, skills, and experiences students have acquired. Access this resource for feasible ways to diagnose any gaps in students’ preparation, point students to useful resources, and make informed decisions about course design, instruction, and program milestones.
