Northwestern University President Morton Schapiro, who has led the University through one of its most transformative and sustained periods of academic growth, announced Thursday, March 4, that he will conclude his tenure on Aug. 31, 2022. Read President Schapiro’s letter to the community.

Since President Schapiro took office in 2009 as Northwestern’s 16th president, the University has elevated its status as a premier University for research and teaching. He has led Northwestern through more than a decade, witnessing the birth of new campus traditions, celebrating athletic achievements and honoring faculty’s research breakthroughs.
