How we can help
After a grant is awarded, we help manage grants by:
- Sending report reminders for narrative and financial reports, approximately six weeks prior to the due date
- Reviewing annual and final narrative reports
- Coordinating foundation site visits
- Advising on how to ask the foundation for:
- a no-cost extension,
- budget reallocation, or
- other grant modifications

1. A foundation’s website usually includes detailed information to answer your questions regarding the above. And, your RA can help you with these types of questions as well. It is important to note that some grant modifications also have to be processed through Sponsored Research, if they require changes to dates, account codes, personnel, etc. Foundation Relations can help guide you on when this is needed.
Reminders
Once received, please forward a copy of your award letter to foundationrelations@northwestern.edu, so that we can include your grant in our reminder system.
Change in terms
If the terms of a grant change, please forward supporting documents to foundationrelations@northwestern.edu, so that grant reminders and other grant stewardship activities can be adjusted accordingly.
