NDSS & College Prep Programs

Image of two students in a chemistry lab.Through Northwestern’s School of Professional Studies, the Office of Special Students offers the opportunity for Evanston Township High School (ETHS) students to take courses as non-degree special students. These courses are available to current high school students who have exhausted the available course sequences at ETHS, most often in foreign language, math and computer science. The high school students receive Northwestern credit for the course and scholarship funds to cover costs through the provost’s office. Our office assists ETHS in coordinating this program and assisting ETHS students navigating the university.

In addition to the NDSS program during the academic year, ETHS students can take seminars and courses through Northwestern’s College Prep Program. Through our office, students who qualify for financial need can receive financial aid for tuition, books, and fees. Our office also connects ETHS students with a dedicated advisor who assists students with navigating the college programming helping to ensure success. The College Prep Program is a recommended summer option for students in other partnership office programs that support low-income and first generation college bound students, such as Evanston Scholars, Northwestern Academy - Evanston, and ETHS AVID
