CAPS is here to support you every step of the way! Our programming focuses on building resilience, cultivating authentic connection with others, and moving towards collective healing.  

Workshops and gathering spaces are not therapy groups and they are not intended as a treatment for mental health concerns. If you are interested in therapy services, please click here to learn about getting started at CAPS.

Chicago Campus

Coffee Talk: “Fika Time” - Chicago Campus

Coffee Talk is a monthly gathering space for all to discuss topics around international student wellness. On the Chicago campus, it is known as the "Fika Time." The gatherings are hosted by Chicago CAPS staff to help facilitate meaningful conversations where one can share their experiences. We are looking forward to sharing space, having coffee, tea, and treats with you!

Time: 3:30 – 4:30 PM (Please arrive on time)

Dates: Final Friday of the Month

  • Fall 2025 Dates: 9/26; 10/31; 11/21*; 12/19*
    • *dates are being held on the 3rd Friday instead.
  • Winter/Spring 2026 Dates: 1/30; 2/27; 3/27; 4/24; 5/25

Location: Abbott Hall Women's Center (Room 1400) on Chicago Campus

Guided Journaling Group - Pritzker School of Law

Are you creative, expressive, thoughtful, or interested in journaling? If so, you're invited to attend the Guided Journaling Group (GJG) hosted by Ida Samuel-Clay, LCPC (CAPS Therapist at Pritzker School of Law). GJG aims to be an inviting and welcoming space where you'll be guided with journaling prompts during the first half hour, complemented by tea/coffee and lofi in cozy Lowden Hall. During the second half, you'll be invited to share journal excerpts and authentic, positive dialogue.

Chicago Connect & Chill

Join us for Chicago Connect & Chill! This is a welcoming and informal gathering space designed to bring Chicago graduate and professional students together and to build community. Chicago Connect & Chill is hosted by Chicago CAPS staff to help facilitate meaningful conversations – whether you’re looking for encouragement, a sense of belonging, or simply a friendly place to unwind and connect. Each meeting will focus on a different topic and/or reflection prompt(s) to get the conversation started and then flow freely based on the group’s needs. We look forward to sharing space, enjoying snacks, and connecting. 

Dates: Every other Wednesday

(September 10, September 24, October 8, October 22, November 5, December 3)

Time: 3:30-4:30 PM

Evanston Campus

Coffee Talk: Connecting and Growing Across Cultures - Evanston Campus

Welcome to Coffee Talk!

All domestic & international students and scholars from both campuses are welcome to attend! Coffee Talk is a welcoming space for domestic and international students and scholars who are interested in learning more about global perspectives.

Topics include:
  • Self-care, managing stress, anxiety, and loneliness
  • Adjusting to Northwestern
  • Academics
  • Global friendships and relationships
  • Bilingual/polyglot identity
  • Missing home
  • Work-life balance
  • Festivals and celebrations
  • Practicing communicating in English
  • Building connections
CAPS and OISS will provide tea, coffee, and snacks for all in-person attendees.
