Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education

Northwestern University is one of 28 founding colleges, universities, and research institutions that joined the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to establish an Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education. According to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine:

 

The Action Collaborative and its Member Organizations collaborate with leaders from academic institutions, practitioners, and research experts to:

  1. Facilitate and inform action on preventing and addressing harassment;
  1. Share and elevate evidence-based policies and strategies for reducing and preventing sexual harassment;
  2. Advance research on sexual harassment prevention, and gather and apply research results across institutions;
  3. Raise awareness about sexual harassment and its consequences, and motivate action to address and prevent it; and
  4. Assess progress in higher education toward reducing and preventing sexual harassment in higher education.

 

The University recommitted to its participation and membership to the Action Collaborative in 2023. The 2023 statement of commitment is available here. The University’s representatives for the Action Collaborative are:

The University is a member of the Evaluation Working Group and contributing to the current project on Using Climate Data. Amit Prachand, Associate Vice President for Information and Analytics, is the University’s representative on the Evaluation Working Group.
