The YourLife wellness program invites the Northwestern community to a Salsa Social! Join us for a complimentary salsa lesson taught by Danery Barraza. Dancing, networking and a raffle will follow the dance lesson. Open to faculty, staff, family members, and friends. Free parking is available in the North and South lots.

ENERGY meetings provide peer support and discussion around physical wellness and weight management, as well as nutritional and dietary resources. Join us at one of our weekly meetings! New members and drop-ins are always welcome; membership is not required to attend. Feel free to bring your lunch.

ENERGY Dietitian Consultations

Make an appointment with Vicki Shanta Retelny, registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). Learn techniques that fit your lifestyle – eating a balanced diet, meal planning and grocery shopping – at these one-on-one consultations! Vicki can assist you with setting realistic nutrition goals, and will provide you with motivational tips toward future progress. Consultations are 20 minutes and FREE for all Northwestern faculty and staff. Click here for registration information.

Mindfulness Meditation

Tuesdays, 1:30 - 1:55 p.m., Abbott Hall, Women's Center Suite 1400, Chicago

Join YourLife each Tuesday for a meditative practice. The benefits of meditation include reducing stress, improving concentration and increasing happiness. Meditation formats will vary from guided meditations, to recordings and artistic meditations. No previous experience is necessary. Elizabeth Tuckwell will lead the guided meditations. Elizabeth is the founder of Art With Intention, a website that pairs the art of self-expression with the art of meditation.  

Fridays, 12:00 - 12:25 p.m., Parkes Hall, Multi-Belief Space, Room 204, Evanston

Join Religious & Spiritual Life each Friday for a guided mindfulness meditation practice. Mindfulness meditation can help to cultivate awareness to the present moment without judgement. This practice includes paying attention to the breath, the entire body, and sounds. No previous experience is necessary and first time participants are encouraged to come a few minutes early or to schedule an appointment with Eric Budzynski.

Northwestern Recreation Lunch & Learn Series 2017-18

Northwestern Recreation presents Lunch & Learn Series 2017-18. The Northwestern community is invited to attend FREE presentations centered around health and wellness awareness topics including: the culture of distractions, concussions, probiotics, hearing loss, injury prevention and physical and mental health. This free series will take place October through May on specified dates from 12:10-12:50 p.m. at the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion Classroom (located next to the Wellness Suite entrance). Light lunch and beverages will be provided.
