Plan for Travel

Before you go abroad, make sure you’ve made the following preparations. Click on a step to learn more. 

  1. Obtain a passport and paperwork.

    Start the process of obtaining your passport and (if necessary) visa early. 

  2. Make financial arrangements.

    • Book your flight and determine how you will access money while abroad.
    • Understand your Northwestern invoice and apply for financial aid.

  3. Consider health and safety issues.

    Prepare for a healthy and safe experience by educating yourself before you leave. 

  4. Pack and store your stuff.

    Your program will provide you with a list of items for you to pack; you may also need to store some of your items while you are abroad.
