Move-In Day

Dad helping daughter on Move-in DayAll new Wildcats living on campus will arrive on Thursday, September 20 to move into their residence halls. No early move-in options are available.

Move-In Hours

New students will receive a move-in permit with a time between 9am-4pm on Thursday, September 20.

Getting Your Unloading/Move-in Permit

If you are a new student living in a residence hall, you will be asked to register for an unloading time when you sign your housing contract (contracts will be sent out for signature in late July or early August). Because each residence has a limited amount of parking space available for unloading, registering helps limit traffic congestion and keep long check-in lines to a minimum.  Once your vehicle has been unloaded, we ask you to move it and then return to your room to begin unpacking and getting settled.

Rules for Parking

The permit must be displayed on your vehicle's dashboard during your assigned unloading time. Permits are good for 45 minutes. University Police will be on-hand to monitor traffic and parking, and will ticket cars with expired permits and no attendants. After unloading your vehicle, you will need to drive to an alternate parking location in order to make room for newly arriving traffic. Both free and metered parking is available on and near campus; please pay attention to all posted parking signs.

Maps of  campus lots with free parking will be given to students at check-in. A parking map can also be viewed here.

Move-In Assistance

On Move-In Day, a group of stellar Northwestern volunteers will be assisting with your move into the residence halls.
