What You Can Expect During Wildcat Welcome, September 15-21, 2009

  • Academic Advising and Class Registration

Faculty and Peer Advisers work together  to advise you on the best course load based on your academic school and major.

  • College Transition Discussions

Also known as Essential NUs (or ENUs), these informative--and fun--programs help you make a successful transition to Northwestern University. Topics include diversity, alcohol and drugs, campus safety, academic integrity and social responsibility. For the Record is considered the first of six ENUs, and you're required to complete it online once it becomes available on our Web site in late July. You also have the option of completing MyStudentBody over the summer. Click here for more information on completing the summer ENUs.

  • Learning from Your Peer Adviser

These current  students have been trained and know what to expect during your first year at Northwestern.

Peer Advisers go through hours of training to esnure they can answer your questions accurately and honestly.

Peer Advisers go through hours of training to ensure they can answer your questions accurately and honestly.

They will be a valuable resource and are available for you to ask questions, share concerns and seek guidance. They're also great dinner buddies!

  • Making Friends

Whether you're coming from another country or  just a few houses away in Evanston,  making friends is a priority for nearly all new students who come to Northwestern--especially since most of your high school friends have been in college for almost a month. Through PA groups, mingling in the residence halls and social events, Wildcat Welcome gives you tons of chances to meet other students and make new friends.

  • Parent and Family Orientation

Parents and family members go through a transition when you go to college, too. While new students are getting settled into their residence halls, we offer parents and family members informational sessions and a resource fair to prepare them for the Great Goodbye--and to ensure they'll leave campus  informed and assured.

  • Special Community Orientations

If you are a transfer student, an international student, a commuter student, or a student of color, we have opportunities to help you find your niche here at Northwestern. There will be a variety of interest-specific events and programs sponsored by Northwestern departments or student groups throughout Wildcat Welcome. Consult the Wildcat Welcome schedule or your personalized guide for more information.
