New Student Welcome Luncheon
During Wildcat Welcome, MSA welcomes the new freshmen class at a luncheon. New students have the opportunity to meet staff, faculty, and student leaders.
Heritage Celebrations
In conjunction with its three departments, MSA sponsors the keynote speakers for Hispanic Heritage Celebration (Fall Quarter), Black History Month (Winter Quarter), and Asian American Heritage Celebration (Spring Quarter).
Multicultural Leaders Retreat
In the early fall, leaders of the African American, Asian/Asian American, and Hispanic/Latino student groups gather for a day-long retreat to cultivate a cohesive community and develop a culture of collaboration.
Student Art Exhibit
Each spring MSA provides students a venue to display their artwork including paintings, drawings, poetry, music, spoken word, and other media. The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception honoring the student artists.
Life After College Series
MSA collaborates with the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Northwestern Alumni Association (NAA), and University Career Services (UCS) to offer programs that focus on preparing students for living and working in the real world after graduation.
Exam Jam
At the end of the year before spring finals, MSA holds a block party that includes a barbeque, music, and games.
Senior Reception
During Senior Week, MSA recognizes graduating seniors in the African American, Asian/Asian American, and Hispanic/Latino communities, especially those with high academic achievements as well as those with significant contributions to our communities.
Summer Academic Workshop (SAW)
Prior to Wildcat Welcome, MSA and the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education host a two-week program that provides new students with an opportunity to develop skills for writing across the university curriculum.
