Northwestern’s 2002 reunion co-chairs and committee members are brainstorming and planning upcoming spring and fall reunions that feature a number of new activities in addition to more traditional reunion fun.

Spring reunion weekend, for the classes of 1942, 1946, 1947 and 1952, is set for June 21 through 23. The classes of 1957, 1962, 1971, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1992, 1997 and 2002 will celebrate with classmates during homecoming weekend, Oct. 25 through 27.

On Friday, June 21, 50th reunion participants begin their anniversary weekend on the Evanston campus with a celebratory luncheon at the John Evans Alumni Center. Later that afternoon, continuing a long Northwestern tradition, they’ll don caps and gowns and join the class of 2002 for Commencement.

Members of the 55th and 60th reunion classes join the class of 1952 on Saturday for a bus tour of campus, the Half Century Club luncheon and a new event: an educational discussion of the golden years, entitled "What is the Good Life? The Impact of Religion, Wealth and Even Prozac." That evening the 50th reunion class will reconvene for cocktails, dinner and entertainment at the Woman’s Club of Evanston and meet Sunday morning for a final brunch at the John Evans Alumni Center.

Capping off the weekend, Sunday afternoon offers a new event open to all of the spring reunion classes — a 90-minute Chicago architectural river cruise led by Joan Lindsay (S52, G74).

Invitations will go out in August for fall reunion events, and this year alumni will also have the option of registering online.

As they did last year, fall reunion class members will be able to visit residence halls, tour the Evanston campus, sit in on faculty lectures and meet with current deans in addition to participating in the traditional all-class tent party, homecoming parade, pre-game tailgate party and individual class parties.

This year, participants will be able to attend a career seminar, take part in practice drills with the men’s and women’s basketball coaches and enjoy a gospel brunch on the Evanston campus.
