Community Assistants and Student Directors
Community Assistants (CAs) are highly visible paraprofessional staff members of Graduate and
Off Campus Housing. The CAs are part of a team that is responsible for the fair, efficient,
and convenient delivery of service to the residents of Abbott Hall.
Through appropriate training, continued interaction, and successful programming, the CAs are
expected to be familiar with the residents, their interests and needs. As leaders of the on
campus resident population, CAs are responsible for creating social, cultural, educational,
recreational, and wellness opportunities for the residents.
Some of their responsibilities include:
- Plan activities for all students on the Chicago Campus
- Facilitate interaction between and among the students of each graduate/professional program
- Provide students with access to or information about Campus resources
- Serve as a liaison between students and administration
- Supervise student employees in various positions throughout the halls
- Be available to students who need someone to talk to
Commons
All commons facilities are shared equally by students living in Abbott Hall. Each residence hall has a coin operated laundry.
