for Incoming Students & Guests
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in housing on Northwestern University's
Evanston campus. The following general information is intended to provide an
introduction to our facilities and services. Feel free to browse, or click on

Engelhart Hall
This residence hall is located on the western edge of campus at 1915 Maple
Avenue. Located within blocks of the heart of campus and downtown Evanston
and immediately adjacent to plentiful parking as well as public transportation,
Engelhart Hall is ideally situated for busy graduate students and their
families. The building has twin studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.

model. All apartments are carpeted and have individually controlled heating
and air conditioning. Housing rates includes all utilities, basic campus
phone and data service in addition to basic cable television. Apartments
are rented furnished. Contracts are written for the academic year.
Building amenities include a residents'
lounge, study rooms, children's play area outdoors and indoors, fax and
copier center, coin-operated laundry, tenant storage, elevator service,
community assistants and community programming, indoor parking (available
at an additional charge), and a staff dedicated to providing
a supportive environment for graduate students and their
families.
McManus Living-Learning Center
This residence hall is located on the southern edge of campus at 1725 Orrington
Avenue and exclusively serves the students enrolled in the MBA program*, their
spouses/children/partners**, and guests of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Located within blocks of the heart of campus, steps from downtown Evanston,
and convenient to public transportation, McManus is ideally situated for busy
KGSM students and their spouses/partners. The building has studio, twin studio,
one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. View

have individually controlled heating and air conditioning. Housing rates includes
utilities and basic campus phone and data service in addition to basic cable
television. Apartments are furnished. Contracts may be written for either a
nine-month or twelve-month period.
Building amenities include a residents' lounge, game room,
fax and copier center, multiple study rooms, two coin-operated
laundries, tenant storage, student directors and community
programming, indoor parking (available at an additional charge),
and a staff dedicated to providing a supportive environment.

Security
University Police patrol both of the residence halls and other campus areas regularly.
The outside entrance doors of the residence halls are locked, and entry is
obtained only by the use of a key issued to each student resident.
Application Process
Engelhart Hall
Download and complete the application. Assignments
are made each year based on the date of the received application.
Assignment Process
Applicants must be accepted for admission to or currently enrolled in their
respective schools before being assigned. Two-bedroom apartments are assigned
to families with children. Families with more than five persons are not eligible
for assignment to a two-bedroom apartment. One-bedroom apartments are assigned
to couples without children, to families with one child and to single graduate
students. Families with more than three persons are not eligible for assignment
to a one bedroom. Twin-studio apartments are available only to single students.
It will either be a twin studio large or small room you will share the kitchen
and bath with one other student of the same sex.
Once an assignment is made the student will receive via e-mail a housing
offer. The housing offer will have the type of room being offered and instructions
for sending the room reservation deposit, which must be received before the
housing contract is created.
Once the deposit is received you will receive additional information for
your housing contract. Before signing the contract please think about the
following before you sign. (1) Are you able to commit to assuming financial
obligation effective the date your contract begins or do you need to request
a different date? (2) Have you received your student visa (if applicable)?
(3) Has your academic department admitted you? If you answer “NO” to
any of these questions, you may wish to resolve that issue before signing
the contract. Once you sign the contract you are obligated to pay a minimum
of sixty days housing charges, even if you are unable to attend the University.
Residency Limitations
Occupancy is limited to eight years (96 months) from the original date of
your admission to your program.
Contract
A contract can begin at any point during the year, but all contracts end on June
15th of each year. Contracts may be renewed for up to a 12 month period based
on continued eligibility.
McManus Living-Learning Center
The application and assignment process for McManus is handled
by the Student Affairs Office of the Kellogg Graduate School
of Management. Detailed information on the process is available
from that office.
