    Campus Housing Information/Services for Incoming Students & Guests

Welcome, and thanks for your interest in housing on Northwestern University's Chicago campus. The following general information is intended to provide an introduction to our facilities and services. Abbott Hall
Family housing in studio and one-bedroom apartments is available in Abbott Hall, located at 710 North Lake Shore Drive. The campus bookstore, Wildcard Office, Bursar's Office, Student Accounts, Financial Aid Office are also located in Abbott Hall.

Furnishings
Rooms are furnished with a single bed (twin extra long mattress), dresser, lounge chair, floor lamp, desk, desk chair, and desk lamp. See Family Housing for a description of the furnishings provided in family apartments. Bed linens, sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, and wash cloths are not provided.

Family Housing
Housing in studio and one-bedroom apartments is available in Abbott Hall. Priority for assignment to these apartments is offered to students who will be living with their spouses or partners and those living with dependent children. Persons applying for family housing are required to submit documentation supporting their family status. Please call the Housing Office at (847) 491-5127 for more information about that process.

These apartments are furnished with a bed (queen sleeper sofa in studios, queen bed and queen sleeper sofa in one bedrooms), dresser, lounge chair, floor lamp, desk, desk chair, desk lamp, kitchen table, and kitchen chairs. Bed linens, sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, and wash cloths are not provided. Each includes basic campus phone service and data service. The apartments are carpeted, include private bathrooms with tub and shower, and feature kitchen units. Residents of the apartments are not required to participate in a meal plan, but are welcome to do so if they wish.

A $300 room reservation deposit is required of all new and nonresident students who wish to reserve rooms in University residences. The deposit will be applied to your student account on the first bill of the period for which you are requesting university housing.

Security
University Police patrols Abbott hall and other campus areas regularly. The outside entrance doors of the residence halls are locked each evening, and entry is obtained only by the use of a marlock key, which is issued to each student resident.

Application Process
Applicants must be accepted for admission to or currently enrolled in their respective schools before being assigned. Please download and complete the application. Assignments are made each year based on the date of the received application. Once an assignment is made the student will receive via e-mail a housing offer. The housing offer will have the type of room being offered and instructions for sending the room reservation deposit, which must be received before the housing contract is created. Once a housing deposit is received you will received additional information for your housing contract.

Residency Limitations

Occupancy is limited to eight years (96 months) from the date of your admission to your program.
