Welcome to Fraternity and Sorority Life

Scholarship ▪ Service ▪ Leadership ▪ Community

students walking on campusFraternities and sororities are the premiere collegiate experience and have been a part of Northwestern since 1859, playing an important role in the lives of thousands of students and alumni. Their educational programs, social activities, service projects, and leadership development opportunities contribute much to the University community. Northwestern currently has 48 values-based chapters across four governing councils that range in mission from social to service to cultural; however each chapter was founded on the principles of scholarship, service, leadership and community.
The total membership of more than 2,700 students comprises 35 percent of the campus community.

"...And I am Greek"

Members of the Interfraternity Council, the Multicultural Greek Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Panhellenic Association launched a campaign this fall to highlight individual members of the fraternity and sorority community and their unique, personal stories. The second stage of the campaign will highlight community values and the strength of the community.

Check out our YouTube video to see why Northwestern students made the decision to go Greek!
