Wilson Shirley graduated from Northwestern in 2015 with a major in political science and a minor in philosophy. During his Clark and Hinman Foundation Fellowship, he worked as an intern on Capitol Hill for his hometown congressman, Andy Barr (KY-06). Since 2015, Wilson has worked at the American Enterprise Institute, in Washington, DC, where he has managed educational programming and part of the institute's government-relations portfolio.
