University
Chaplain, Timothy S. Stevens
University
Chaplain at Northwestern since 1986, Reverend Stevens
conducts university chapel services each Sunday of the
academic year in Millar Chapel. In addition, he is available
for personal counseling on a range of issues.
Chaplain Stevens is a graduate of Princeton Theological
Seminary (Master of Divinity) and Northwestern University
(Ph.D. in English Literature). He is an ordained minister
of the United Church of Christ. As a member of the professional
staff of the Student Affairs Division, he reports directly
to the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Assistant
University Chaplain, Erica L. Brown
Reverend
Brown joined the Northwestern community in 2001. As
Assistant Chaplain, she shares in the responsibilities
of weekly worship as well as working with students,
faculty, and staff in a variety of ways. She is also
available with a listening heart, should you need someone
with whom to talk.
Chaplain Brown received her M.Div. degree from the
University of Chicago Divinity School. She also has
an M.A. degree in English from Bucknell University.
Academic interests include issues of welcome and hospitality
as well as feminist and womanist theology. She is an
ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ).

Director
of Chapel Music, Dr. Stephen Alltop
Dr. Alltop has served as director of music at Millar
Chapel since 1994, and Conductor of the Northwestern
University Philharmonia since 1992. He also serves as
Music Director for the National High School Music Institute
Orchestra. In addition to his duties at Northwestern,
Stephen Alltop is the Music Director of the Elmhurst
Symphony, and the Assistant Conductor of the Peninsula
Music Festival, in Door County, Wisconsin. He is also
Music Director of the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, Chicago's
oldest musical organization. He is the ninth music director
in the choir's 128 year history. As a harpsichordist
and organist, Stephen Alltop has performed with the
Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Chicago
Baroque Ensemble, Chicago Chamber Musicians, Chicago
Symphony Chamber Musicians, Boston's Handel and Haydn
Society, Minnesota Orchestra, Omaha Symphony Chamber
Orchestra and Symphony II. Mr. Alltop can be heard on
several commercial recordings, including an American
Gramaphone CD called Holiday Musik, featuring
his performance of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5.
Stephen Alltop has served as Scorereader for five television
productions by WTTW Chicago featuring the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra.
