About the Office of Budget and Planning

The Office of Budget and Planning serves as the steward of resources and trusted advisor for units across Northwestern University in order to support decision-making and enable strategy. 

The Office of Budget and Planning has oversight of the University's budget while supporting the Provost in the allocation of resources. This includes:

  • Preparing budget allocations and monitoring budget performance through a quarterly process. 
  • Enhancing and strengthening the budget process through transparency.
  • Providing guidance to University academic and administrative units on allocation and management of annual operating and capital budgets. 
  • Developing long-range, multi-year financial plans, and budget projections on revenue, management initiatives, and other elements of the budget.
