The African American Student Experience
This program offers first-year students insights into the college experience for African American students at Northwestern. Also, first-year students have the opportunity to learn about various resources available through the African American community.
Freshmen Advisory Board
The AASA Freshman Advisory Board (FAB) provides first-year students with a support network to faciliate their transition from high school to college, introduces them to a variety of opportunities and resources, and gives them outlets to think about what they want to accomplish in college and how they want to contribute to the community.
Tutoring
Graduate students are available to tutor and monitor groups in various subjects, particularly math, chemistry, statistics, economics, and physics.
Evening Dialogue Series
Each quarter an African American Northwestern faculty member presents his/her research to the community.
Black History Month
Black History Month provides opportunities for students to attend speakers, presentations, discussions, films, social gatherings, concerts, theatrical performances, literary forums and museum exhibits that highlight cultural, historical and contemporary social issues relating to Black culture.
Black Women's Retreat
The annual Black Women's Retreat offers dedicated time for undergraduate and graduate students, staff/faculty, and alumnae to gather for an evening of reflection, discussion, relaxation, networking, community-building, and fun. This event is co-sponsored by the Women's Center and an ad hoc student planning group.
NU Men
This group is a supportive brotherhood for the Black male community at Northwestern and promotes personal growth through mentoring, seminars, and discussions.
