Pre-Payment Plan Option
Dear Northwestern Family:
Student Finance would like to welcome you to Northwestern! Our office is responsible for billing and payments for the University. Since we will be working with you over the next year, we want to provide some general information about billing and a financing option that you may find helpful. Please explore the Student Finance website for more information about student billing and payment options.
Our office issues invoices to students term by term for tuition, room, board, and fees using the following schedule for undergraduate students:
|Term||Invoice Available||Payment Deadline|
|Fall||August 10||September 1|
|Winter||December 10||January 1|
|Spring||March 10||April 1|
In addition, we also offer an alternative pre-payment option called 9PAY. 9PAY is an installment pre-payment plan designed to help families pay on a monthly basis over a 9-month period. Instead of a large payment prior to the beginning of each term, 9PAY allows you to break up the payments into monthly payments from July - March, with the full amount of tuition for each quarter still being due by the payment deadline above. The 9PAY plan is open to parents and guardians of undergraduate students.
The 9PAY application deadline of June 1 has been extended, and there is a $50 non-refundable application fee. Application is online and details are found on the 9PAY Application Process page of the Student Finance website.
Determining your 9PAY Amount
When completing your 9PAY application, you will need to determine your Annual Budgeted Amount (ABA) for the academic year. To determine this amount you will calculate your estimated expenses and subtract any estimated credits. Our Online 9PAY calculator will help you determine these amounts.
After you have submitted your application for 9PAY, you will receive an email from our office to confirm enrollment and budgeted amounts. The first 9PAY payment for the academic year will be due on July 1, and payments are due monthly thereafter through March 1. We encourage you to schedule online payments for convenience; instructions for setting up online payments, along with details regarding billing, are found on the 9PAY Billing and Payment page of the Student Finance website.
