Northwestern Office of the Provost

Faculty Newsletter | February 2024

Dear faculty,

A few weeks ago, I had the great pleasure of attending the Faculty Recognition Dinner, where we celebrated faculty who have brought distinction to the University by earning recognition from prestigious entities around the world.

That evening, I was reminded  as I am so often  what a tremendous impact our faculty make, not only at Northwestern, but also in our surrounding community and around the world. Natasha Trethewey read one of her powerful poems, Andy Papachristos spoke about the necessity of connecting research to policy to community, and the room was filled with scholars and scientists at the top of their fields. It was truly inspiring.

Indeed, celebrating faculty’s hard work and achievement is both energizing and important. That’s why, over the course of the academic year, the Office of the Provost administers several awards to recognize faculty members’ achievements. Recently, six faculty members were recipients of three such awards:

Congratulations to all of the award recipients and thank you for your contributions to our community and beyond.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Hagerty
Provost and Professor
