The election to determine whether eligible Postdoctoral Scholars and Research Associates wish to be represented by the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE) was held on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26, 2025 in Chicago and Evanston. 

Of the 1,195 individuals who were eligible to vote, 515 voted in favor of unionization and 13 voted against unionization. This means that, subject to limited exceptions, Postdoctoral Scholars and Research Associates will be represented by the union when they are employed by Northwestern University on the Chicago and Evanston campuses.
