Winter Recess 2019

We are grateful to all of you for your contributions, and we hope the upcoming recess will offer time for rest and renewal as we prepare for 2020.”

Dear Northwestern Faculty and Staff:

Continuing a recent tradition, we will observe Winter Recess on Dec. 26, 27 and 30, 2019, in order to offer an extended break to our University community.

These Winter Recess days are provided in addition to holidays on Dec. 24, 25 and 31, 2019, and Jan. 1, 2020.

During this time, the University will continue to provide essential services, including security and policing, but will be closed for non-essential operations. Staff providing essential services should contact their managers or supervisors to see if their areas will remain in operation and if their services will be required. Employees who are required to work during this period will be given an equivalent number of recess days that can be scheduled for use by Aug. 31, 2020 with manager or supervisor approval. More details about the recess, including FAQs, may be found through the Human Resources website.

We are grateful to all of you for your contributions, and we hope the upcoming recess will offer time for rest and renewal as we prepare for 2020.
