Stephanie M. Graham

Stephanie M. Graham is Northwestern’s Vice President & General Counsel; Ms. Graham oversees all of the University’s legal affairs and directs its Office of General Counsel. She is a member of the University’s senior management team, advises the University trustees, the President, and other senior administrators and academic leaders on legal issues.
Ms. Graham’s principal areas of responsibility in the Office of General Counsel include office management, University governance, crisis management, government investigations, research compliance, athletics, and complex litigation and corporate matters. Ms. Graham is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and is often asked to speak on higher education law.
Ms. Graham received a bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude with High Distinction in history from the University of Illinois and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received a J.D. degree with honors from the University of Chicago Law School. She joined Northwestern University’s Office of General Counsel in 1993 as an Assistant General Counsel. Prior to joining Northwestern University, Ms. Graham was a labor and employment litigation attorney with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago, Illinois.
