STEAM Summer Research & Design Program

steamsummer01.jpg

Originally designed as a prototype for the new school year course, STEAM Design Thinking and Innovation, ETHS students participate in a summer program on campus. While the school year course is limited to seniors in high school, students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in this 2 week research and design experiential learning program on Northwestern campus.

Teams of ETHS students shadowed graduate students in the STEM disciplines as well as engaging in artistic places on NU campus, such as the Dittmar Gallery, the Mary & Leigh Block Museum of Art and Norris Artica Studios. Students also engaged with Segal Design Interns from Northwestern’s MADE program as well as the House By Northwestern team. Each ETHS team of students tackled one real world challenge project, interviewing students, faculty and staff on campus to research their topic and iterate on potential design solutions.
