| | Safety Around Construction ActivitiesThere are numerous construction, renovation, and improvement projects occurring on campus requiring the use of vehicles, cranes, and other equipment. While worksite boundaries are established with fencing and barricades to protect you from those activities and hazards, worksites change frequently as projects progress, and sometimes there are temporary impacts to roadways, walkways, and other campus areas that may impact your work. Staying alert and aware of your surroundings is essential to keeping yourself safe while working near these projects.

| Did you know?Construction activities account for some of the highest injury rates compared to other industries due to the frequently changing conditions and worksite hazards such as slips, trips, falls, noise, chemicals, overhead work (e.g., cranes), and confined spaces. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there were 173,200 construction injuries in the United States in 2023. The most common causes of injury are falls, being struck by or caught between equipment, electricity, and musculoskeletal injuries from overexertion and repetitive motion. |
