Testing

Northwestern requires COVID-19 testing for all students upon their return to campus, and ongoing testing for students, faculty and staff will be conducted throughout the Fall Quarter.

Testing data is reported on this page twice a week. These figures represent Northwestern University students, staff and faculty. Data is provided by Northwestern Medicine and is sourced from Fulgent (at-home testing), Tempus (on-site testing) and EPIC (on-site testing).

Confirmed Cases

The confirmed cases chart will be updated Fridays by 1 p.m. Our goal is to be open and transparent, which we believe is essential to help stop the spread of the virus.

Regional Data

About the Dashboard

  • Confirmed case counts in the bar chart above through September 10 include Northwestern students, faculty and staff (including on-campus contractors) who had known, confirmed cases of COVID-19 and who could have presented a risk of exposure to other members of the University community. These figures include both self-reported cases and positive test results from Northwestern University Health Services.
  • Confirmed case counts September 11 or later are based on Northwestern Medicine testing data of Northwestern University students, staff and faculty and no longer include self-reported cases.
  • Confirmed case counts in the bar chart above for October 9 or later may include the same individuals under more than one category if they have multiple university roles.
  • This new dashboard is populated by data pulled directly from high-volume lab testing results which cannot easily be associated with individual buildings. We are working with the case management, contact tracing, and data management teams to identify ways to meaningfully post building-level data as previously shown on the dashboard.
  • If you were identified as someone who has been in contact with, or in close proximity to, any individual who has tested positive for the virus, you will be notified.
