Managing Your Re-Entry

Your study abroad journey continues as you process your experiences back home. It's normal to feel a mix of emotions during this transition – from excitement to occasional disconnection. Many students find their perspectives and relationships shift as they integrate their international experiences into campus life.

How to Navigate Your Return

  • Engage with the international learning community: contact a GLO Ambassador, engage with international students on campus, or join a language table to practice your language skills in an informal group setting.
  • Stay connected with your study abroad friends
  • Share your experiences while showing interest in what happened at home during your absence
  • Take time to process your experience and be patient with yourself

Support During Your Transition

Northwestern offers several free resources to help you readjust:
