Program Description:

The Argentine Universities Program allows students a wide variety of courses to choose from, allowing them to enroll in three of the top universities in Buenos Aires. By designing a unique study program based on the student’s individual academic interest, the AUP allows for both academic and cultural immersion. In addition to the University courses, a program course, designed specifically for IFSA-Butler students, is required and taught in Spanish by an Argentine professor.

Academic Specialties of this program:

Students may take courses in one or all of theses universities:

  • Universidad de Buenos Aires: A large, world renowned, public university that specializes in drama, philosophy and social sciences. Particularly known for its human rights courses, including its Nobel Prize-winning faculty members.
  • Universidad Católica: A small, traditional, private university that specializes in humanities, politics, communications, business and economics.
  • Universidad del Salvador: A medium-sized, urban, private university that specializes in social sciences, medicine, and communications (advertising/journalism). Study abroad students tend to take courses in social sciences, philosophy, history, and letters. The university also offers a number of interesting courses in the fine arts.
  • Universidad Torcuato di Tella: A very small, private university that focuses on the social sciences, including political science and international studies.

Course Type:

Direct enrollment, facilitated by IFSA-Butler, in courses at one or all of the above Universities. One mandatory Advanced Spanish and Argentine Culture course designed especially for IFSA-Butler students. Three other program courses also are available: Argentine State and Society, Contemporary Argentine and Latin American Literature, and Argentine Foreign Policy.

  • Students also have the option of doing an independent research project worth 6 semester credits on a topic of their choice.
