Salary Access Policy

The following applies to any individual who has access to salary data through myHR, BI/Cognos, CERES, Research Portal, Effort Reporting, or any other Northwestern University system, report, or documentation.

Faculty, staff, and affiliates are expected to abide by all University policies and Standards for Business Conduct, as well as applicable local, state, and federal law. Individuals/affiliates must not access data other than that directly related to their job responsibilities at Northwestern University, and shall not use and/or seek personal benefit from such data.

Salary and compensation-related information is confidential and should only be disseminated to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis. Individuals with access to salary information should not disclose such data to parties inside or outside Northwestern University except in the approved conduct of a work assignment.

Staff member inappropriate access to, use of, or disclosure of confidential information is subject to corrective action, up to and including termination of employment.
