Equal Opportunity and Access

Welcome to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access. This office provides leadership and resources which promote the University's commitment to diversity and equal opportunity.

In addition to providing campus-wide support, this office is also responsible for the following:

  • Investigates complaints of unlawful discrimination in admission, employment, and access to University services. In addition, this office investigates complaints regarding treatment in University-sponsored programs and activities; and makes recommendations to responsible University representatives as appropriate.
  • Represents the University before federal and state agencies as well as to the higher education community on issues related to affirmative action, equal opportunity, harassment, and diversity.
  • Collaborates with campus units in the development of the University's Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Assists units in the recruitment and retention of women, men and, persons with disabilities, and other under-represented groups.
  • Provides training in equal opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act, diversity and other related topics as needed or by request.
  • Provides technical assistance to faculty, students, staff, and administrators on diversity issues as well as on problems regarding discrimination and harassment.
  • Advises faculty, staff, and students who believe they may have been subjected to harassment or discrimination.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship between the University and the local community.
  • Serves as an informational resource to faculty, staff, students and the community.
