Attorney Biography

Priya J. Harjani joined Northwestern University as Assistant General Counsel in 2004. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Harjani was an associate at the firm of Gardner Carton & Douglas in Chicago, where she concentrated in commercial litigation. While at Gardner Carton & Douglas, Ms. Harjani represented Northwestern University in its lawsuit against the City of Evanston regarding the Northeast Evanston Historic District.

Ms. Harjani received her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she double-majored in Psychology and Speech Communication and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.

Ms. Harjani’s principal areas of responsibility in the Office of General Counsel are labor and employment counseling and litigation. Ms. Harjani also advises on a variety of other issues, including research compliance and community relations. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and the American Bar Association (ABA).
