Undergraduate Study Abroad
Study abroad is a key educational experience for a growing number of Northwestern students. Each year, more than 700 undergraduate students study abroad through programs that shape how they think about themselves, their communities, and the world. Undergraduate study abroad programs are administered by several Northwestern offices and centers.

Graduate Study Abroad
There are more than 100 programs available for graduate and professional students to participate in engagement abroad opportunities. International opportunities, including joint-program degrees, medical rotations, externships, and exchanges, can be found through individual schools and programs.

Global Research
Northwestern faculty across disciplines conduct research to help solve our most intractable global problems. In addition, Northwestern University is dedicated to building collaborations with the best organizations and scholars in the world in order to advance cutting-edge research that is not possible in isolation.

International Scholars, Students, and Visitors
Northwestern is home to over 5,000 international students, faculty, researchers, visiting scholars, and staff, whose presence enriches and enhances our academic community. Their perspectives from more than 110 countries influence how we think about the world, cultures and people. The International Office provides professional support and advising services to international students, scholars and visitors at Northwestern University. The Office of International Program Development facilitates international delegation visits to Northwestern University for the development of global partnerships and collaborative research.

Travel Abroad
The health and safety of all university community members while traveling abroad is a shared responsibility. HTH Worldwide health insurance is required for all students and strongly recommended for all faculty and staff who are traveling abroad.
