Ann Beattie

Ms. Beattie taught "The Art of Fiction"

The New York Times calls Ann Beattie a "gifted writer" with "an unerring sense of comedy." Her published works include the novels Another You (1995), Picturing Will (1990), Love Always (1985), Falling in Place (1980), and Chilly Scenes of Winter (1976). Her most recent novel My Life, Starring Dara Falcon has been described by Publishers Weekly as her most traditional and most accomplished work to date, "offering the texture of Nixon-and-Ford era upper-middle class life, the minutiae and conversational rhythms that made Beattie's name as an observer of contemporary culture."

In a review of Ms. Beattie's 1998 release Park City: New and Selected Stories, the "New York Times Book Review" called "Beattie's gift for trenchant dialogue ...surely the rival of some of our foremost living playwrights" (6/28/98). Her story collections include What Was Mine, Where You'll Find Me, The Burning House, Distortions and Secrets and Surprises.
