For Employers
Welcome student employment supervisors and employers!
You play a significant role in enhancing students' work and overall campus experience by fostering positive, supportive, and growth and development-oriented opportunities. Remember these tips for success:
- Write clear, purposeful job descriptions: Outline the job's responsibilities, routine tasks, and its integration within the department. Indicate how the role will contribute to the student’s professional growth and skill development.
- Ensure Work is meaningful, relevant, and builds professional development: Once you've hired a student align tasks with the student’s academic or career goals to make the work more engaging. Give students opportunities to contribute ideas or participate in projects that have a real impact.
- Provide Feedback and Developmental Guidance: Check in regularly and provide feedback to support the student's performance, skill acquisition, and professional growth. Show you care and value their work and development by offering guidance for their improvement and future professional endeavors.
- Recognize and Reward Effort: Acknowledge and celebrate good work, both small and large, through praise, rewards, celebration, or recognition to boost morale, appreciation, motivation, and engagement.
